John Lewis Money Pet Insurance is arranged, administered and underwritten by Pinnacle Insurance Ltd.

What is lifetime pet insurance?

Lifetime cover means just that — your pet will be covered for illness or injury for life, so long as you renew your policy with us.

Each policy year you can claim for treatment up to your chosen vet fee amount. This includes ongoing conditions like diabetes or arthritis, to one-off mishaps like a cut paw or broken bone.

Please keep in mind that we don’t provide cover for pre-existing health conditions. We can cover new injuries and illnesses, but you're not able to claim vet fees for accidents that happen in the first 3 days, or illness within the first 14 days of your policy (unless you can show that your previous policy runs up to your start date with us).

What does John Lewis Money lifetime pet insurance cover?

Our lifetime pet insurance will cover your furry friend for up to £12,000 for vet fees, including overseas*, and £1,500 for complementary and physiotherapy treatment. There’s also up to £12,000 of cover available for dental treatment.

**The cost of treatment for a dental condition and any related conditions are covered, so long as:

- There is a history of annual check-ups. If not annual, then as recommended by your vet. Proof is required that any advice given has been followed within 6 months; and

- The treatment is to relieve suffering due to illness.

- The cost of dental treatment as a result of an accidental injury.

See the policy wording and insurance product information documents for details of exactly what’s covered and specified limit amounts. Unless stated otherwise, all above items are included within the total vet fee limit, so any usage of one or more areas of cover will reduce your total remaining in your vet fee limit.

How does lifetime cover compare to other policies?

Our lifetime cover limits renew every year, ensuring your pet stays covered for ongoing conditions for as long as they are insured with us with no breaks in cover.

Maximum benefit

Covers vet fees for new illnesses and accidental injuries up to a maximum amount. This limit per condition is not reset and once it is used up, you will no longer be able to claim for further treatment for that condition.

Time limited

Covers vet fees for new illnesses and accidental injuries up to a maximum amount for up to 12 months from the start of treatment. This limit per condition is not reset and once it is used up or the 12 month period has passed, you will no longer be able to claim for further treatment for that condition.

Frequently asked questions

Is my pet eligible for John Lewis Pet Insurance?

If your cat or dog is at least 8 weeks old, they could be eligible for John Lewis Pet Insurance.

Once you’ve taken out a policy, you’re not able to claim for vet fees as a result of accidents that happen in the first 3 days or illness within the first 14 days. If you switch to John Lewis Pet Insurance and can show your previous policy runs up to the start date, we can waive the initial exclusion periods for you.

Does pet insurance cover vaccinations?

Pet insurance doesn’t usually cover vaccinations as they are considered to be routine. It’s important to keep your pet’s vaccinations up to date for their own safety. If your pet becomes unwell and needs treatment because they have missed a vaccination, you may not be able to make a claim.

Does pet insurance cover neutering?

No. These routine procedures don’t involve treating your pet for illness or injury, so aren't covered by our policy. However, if your vet recommends neutering/spaying to treat a condition (e.g. Pyometra or testicular tumour), the cost of this can be covered.
